The Scherzo SS-C18 column provides better retention of Shikimic Acid than a standard C18 column.
The Unison UK-Phenyl column separates surfactants of different lengths better than a standard C18 column.
Cadenza CW-C18, Unison UK-C18, and Unison UK-C8 are all able to resolve the very polar and charged Acetyl CoA and CoA, differing only in an acetyl group.
Oligopeptides (angiotensins)
Oligopeptides (angiotensins)
The Scherzo SM-C18 and Scherzo SS-C18 column resolve very polar carboxylic acids that normally co-elute on a standard C18 column (Unison UK-C18).
Under neutral pH conditions, columns in the Unison and Cadenza series have similar retention and resolution properties.
Under acidic pH conditions, columns in the Unison and Cadenza series have similar retention and resolution properties.
On the Unison UK-C18 column, tetrahydrofuran gives better resolution of Prostaglandins than acetonitrile and acetone.
Acetonitrile and methanol have opposite retention properties in the separation of prostaglandins on the Unison UK-C18 column.
The Scherzo SM-C18 column is able to retain a highly polar compound (multiple phosphate groups) better than a standard C18 column.
Tadalafil, Sildenafil, and Vardenafil are all polar small molecules that are easily separated on the Unison UK-C18 HT column. Not only are the slight structural differences between Sildenafil and Vardenafil recognized by the column, but it also separates all three compounds within 1.5 minutes.
Tannic acid
The Scherzo SM-C18 column can separate these two molecules, which would normally coelute on a standard C18 column.
The Scherzo SM-C18 and SS-C18 show excellent resolution of these small molecules, which normally coelute on a standard C18 column.
The Scherzo SS-C18 column shows improved resolution of arsenobetaine compared to a standard C18 column. The Scherzo SM-C18 and the Scherzo SW-C18 show similar retention of this zwitterion as the standard Unison UK-C18 column.
The Scherzo SM-C18 and the Scherzo SW-C18 show similar retention of these small molecules as the standard Unison UK-C18. However, the Scherzo SS-C18 shows the best resolution between these three compounds.
The Scherzo family columns can separate this glycopeptide with varying retention. The Scherzo SW-C18 has the least retention, followed by the Scherzo SM-C18, followed by the Scherzo SS-C18 which has the most retention.
The Scherzo SM-C18 and SW-C18 columns can separate this glycopeptide with varying retention. The Scherzo SM-C18 has less retention while the Scherzo SW-C18 has more retention.
The Scherzo SS-C18 column retains and separates glutamic acid and GABA better than a conventional C18 column
Metabolites of toluene, xylene and stylene
Blowing agents (OBSH, TSSC) for plastic materials
Small, polar molecules like neurotransmitters are difficult to retain on a conventional C18 column like Unison UK-C18. Scherzo SS-C18 can retain these compounds much better than a standard Unison UK-C18 column, as well as resolve the peaks better. Conditions compatible with LC-MS
Unison UK-C18 column can separate out the small, polar molecule components of coffee bean extract due to the lower density of C18 ligands. The column can generate 219 peaks, which shows all of the components of the extract.
Both Unison UK-C18 and Scherzo SW-C18 can separate out components of coffee extracts, but Scherzo SW-C18 can resolve the peaks of caffeine and ferulic acid better.
All of the columns listed can recognize the structural difference between these two isomers, and resolve them into two separate peaks.

LC/MS analysis of perfluorinated organic compounds (PFC's) in seawater
Scherzo is able to separate mandelic acid and dopamine, which coelute on a conventional C18 column (Unison UK-C18). This is possible because the ionic ligands recognize the small structural differences between the two compounds.
